The first of it’s kind instant meeting platform developed by LogMeIn.
My role:
As Sr Director of Product Design I was responsible for the entire join.me product experience across 6 platforms. I managed a team of 7 product designers and 1 UXR.
Problem to solve:
In 2010, hosting an online meeting was filled with friction and frustration due to large downloads, clunky user experiences, and glitchy screen-sharing software that often failed at critical moments.
Our solution:
LogMeIn made online meetings easy by using peer-to-peer technology, letting people join instantly with just a link—pioneering the simple online meeting experiences we have today.
join.me on Desktop
At the core of join.me was the desktop app, where we pioneered instant screen sharing. Over time, we expanded into a complete meeting suite, adding audio, video, annotation, and presenter swapping to enhance collaboration.
We introduced join.me “Video Bubbles” to align with our quirky, fun brand while breaking the mold of traditional, rigid video conferencing layouts. Instead of the typical square frames, Bubbles embraced a circular design, echoing join.me’s signature UI, which was built around five core meeting features in circles.
Annotation was first introduced on the join.me iPad app but quickly expanded to the desktop, transforming meetings from one-way presentations into interactive collaboration sessions.
join.me on Tablet
Mobile meetings weren’t widespread at the time, but with the rise of the iPad and other tablets, join.me saw an opportunity to expand into the mobile space—especially for meeting participants. We developed a mobile app as a companion to the core join.me experience, offering even more ways to connect and collaborate on the go.
join.me on Apple Watch
join.me was one of the first apps available when Apple Watch was launched. We created an experience that let users instantly start a meeting on their computer directly from their wrist, making it faster and easier to connect on the go.
